"This apartment is part of a building that occupies the entire south top of Largo do Carmo in Lisbon. Of Pombaline origin, it has the typological peculiarity of combining a mansion on the lower floors, with luxurious apartments on the upper floors. Despite successive occupations over the past 2 centuries, the interior has maintained great spatial, constructive and decorative quality.The project aims to respect and enhance this past and adapt the space to single-family housing.The current circulation logic, consisting of two main axes formed by corridors and continuous connection between divisions. Demolitions are tiny and "scars" are assumed on these walls. Doors that close are barred and painted with wall paint, like fossils. Strategies to combine new programmatic desires with reading the original compartmentalization . It also works as a register, which will allow one day everything to return to the original. "
