• STAINLESS STEEL

    The first stainless steels have been developed by the German industry in the early twentieth century. The generic term “stainless steel” involves many types of steel alloy with high corrosion resistance, which emerged as response to industry requests .Stainless steel is recyclable and itself results largely from recycled steel scrap. One of the great advantages of using stainless steel is that it does not require galvanic surface treatment to give the final finish to the product. In this way all industrial chemical processes, almost pollutant, mainly by galvanic way have been removed. It’s possible to reach high quality finishes identical to the “chrome plated” in the case of polished steel or “Matte” finishes in the case of satin finish or sand finish or even industrial “RAW” finish. It is also possible to carry out special finishes on stainless steel, using the “PVD” technology (Physical Vapor Deposition), obtaining products with a higher surface hardness and different steel colour, as is the case of gold or black colour satin or mirror appearance. Typically, stainless steel is “recoverable” by mechanical or chemical process. It’s possible to recover the appearance of a new product after many years of use. Stainless steel is an alloy that contains, among other elements, chromium, nickel and molybdenum, which confer high resistance to corrosion. The corrosion resistance is mainly due to the chromium. To be considered a “stainless” steel, it must contain at least 10.5% chromium. The corrosion resistance is due to a chromium oxide layer, formed on the steel surface which acts as self-protective. The formation process of this layer is also known as passivation. Nickel essentially alters the mechanical characteristics of the steel in terms of hardness, in order to improve the machining process. The four main types of stainless steel: austenitic (chromium-nickel & chrome-nickel-molybdenum); ferritic; duplex; martensitic.

    EN 1.4301 (AISI 304):
    Austenitic It’s one of the most widely used stainless steels in construction and industry. Non-magnetic steel which can be slightly magnetic converted if machined. It has an excellent hardness and corrosion resistance. Minimum contents of chromium is 18% and 8% nickel.

    EN 1.4401 (AISI 316):
    Austenitic It is slightly more resistant to corrosion, when compared with AISI 304. Non-magnetic steel which can be slightly magnetic converted if machined. Recommended for areas of high salinity, for example in coastal areas, very polluted places or in contact with aggressive chemicals, as acids and bases. Has a minimum content of chromium 18%, niquel 10% and 2% molybdenum.

    EN 1.4372 (AISI 201):
    Austenitic Stainless steel with low nickel contents and is therefore a high hardness steel. Corrosion resistance is acceptable for almost applications, except in coastal areas or heavily polluted. Non-magnetic steel which can be slightly magnetic converted if machined. It has minimum content of 17% chromium, nickel 3,6%, 7% manganese.

    EN 1.4016 (AISI 430):
    Ferritic Stainless steel commonly used in food industry. Typically used in non-aggressive atmospheres. Magnetic steel with an acceptable corrosion resistance. High quality surface finish.
  • BRONZE

    Bronze is one of the noblest metal alloys used by Man since the prehistoric period. The true bronze corresponds to a copper-tin alloy, having a high hardness, which gave him prominence in the manufacture of weapons for centuries. JNF developed a line of true bronze fittings made for some segments of architecture.

    The resulting pieces have a truly amazing charisma, giving a feeling of absolute timelessness. The various shades of bronze colour, throughout their aging process are, by themselves, captivating, since the colouring of copper to the green that we know from statues. A dedicated catalogue to this line of products is available by request. Another very important feature of bronze is its antibacterial and anti-viral activity. There is no bacterial growth on bronze and cooper surfaces. In many bacteria specimens the cooper or bronze are bactericidal.
  • SILVER

    We had the courage to reconcile classical handmade jewellery with the latest technology used in creating this collection of handles. It’s a true collection of jewellery, handcrafted in 925 true silver with stainless steel machined in numerical control centres. The classic design is inspired in forms of traditional Portuguese jewellery.

    Manufacture is fully developed by the silver industry; each piece is certified and has the mark of authenticity showing the hallmark of “law silver”. This is a line of handles for a very exclusive market sector.
  • SATIN OR BRUSHED STAINLESS STEEL

    This is our standard finish. The steel is polished to achieve a matte finish with no shinning. Our matte finish is obtained with high quality materials, achieving a very low surface roughness but wich, however, remain non-glossy, functioning as “neutral” pieces, reflecting tenuously the surrounding tones. All our products are available with this finish.
  • MIRROR POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL

    This finish results from the polishing of the steel until obtaining completely smooth and shiny surfaces. It’s similar to a bright chrome finish. The pieces reflect shinning surrounding tones. Some of our pieces are available at this finish. Generally, with few exceptions, all fittings can be manufactured in this finishing. There are limitations on the size of parts that can be mirror polished.
  • INDUSTRIAL “RAW” STAINLESS STEEL

    This finish is achieved in the final phase of the polishing process. The parts are subjected to a treatment of abrasion. The end result is absolutely dull pieces with a very nice texture to be touch. Visually, the pieces have a grey “concrete” like colour, giving the image of industrial parts, like they were tools. All our parts can be manufactured in this finish, however there is a limit on the maximum length of 600 mm.
  • STAINLESS STEEL JET FINISH

    This finish is achieved in the final phase of the polishing process. The parts are subjected to a treatment with projection of glass particles. The final result are pieces of uniform matte grey colour with a nice texture to be touched. Visually, the pieces have a slight colouring, perfectly suited to environments where no metallic glare is desired. The resulting pieces are completely discreet and integrate in any type of decoration. All our parts can be manufactured in this finish, however there is a limit on the maximum length of 600mm.
  • STAINLESS STEEL COATED WITH TITANIUM COATED

    This finish is achieved by PVD technology (Physical Vapor Deposition). It is a non-galvanic, pollution free process, widely used in the watchmaking industry. The steel is polished or satined, obtaining glossy or satin titanium parts. This is an exceptionally high quality finish, giving the final product an additional hardness and a very high corrosion resistance. Our products can be manufactured in this finish, there is a minimum order quantity. The maximum length of the parts on this finish is 1000mm.
  • STAINLESS STEEL COATED WITH GOLD & ROSE GOLD

    In order to achieve a sophisticated and trendy look in all our range of handles and accessories we developed a process that allows to coat the stainless steel with 18K and 24K gold. Following this trend we choose the yellow and rose gold finishes. Yellow gold is classic and intemporal. Pink gold is extremely subtle and has a sophisticated look.
  • FOR STAINLESS STEEL

    The stainless steel compared to other materials such as brass and aluminium, present a resistance to corrosion and abrasion considerably superior. The main agents responsible for the appearance of rust are:

    - Lack of maintenance
    - Cleaning with inadequate chemicals, such as acids or bases
    - Installation in coastal areas of high salinity on the outside, or in areas with high concentration of chlorine, like swimming pools
    - Installation on heavily polluted areas such as industrial zones

    To preserve the stainless steel, clean finger stains, spots, etc, you can use the product inox protect (JNF) or spray inox (JNF), applied accordingly to the product instructions. For removal of accidental iron oxide spots you can use the product inox repair (JNF), applied accordingly to the instructions manual. Note: do not use no specific chemical products for stainless steel, of its use can result the appearance of spots or rust points. Examples: heavy acids or heavy alkaline products HCl (acid cloridric); H2SO4 (sulfuric acid); HN03 (acid nitric); NaOH (hydroxide of sodium); KOH (hydroxide of potassium)

    For removal of small scratches in the surface of the hardware with satin finishing only, you can use abrasive meshes (JNF), passing in the same direction of the orientation of the satin lines. Note: do not use no specific abrasive meshes for stainless steel, wools of cleanness or wire brushes. Besides being able to scratch the surface, these meshes will be able to leave steel deposits in the surface of the stainless steel, that will turn in rust points.

    INOX PROTECT:
    Spray for stainless steel surfaces protection and repair. Inox protect is a non-aqueous liquid product of low viscosity with reddish color and characteristic odor. It is a formulated product for the protection, maintenance and stainless steel polishing. Do not use in stainless steel with PVD TITANIUM, 24K / 18K gold, silver, bronze, copper, brass, wood, leather, aluminum, lacquered and anodized finishes.

    INOX REPAIR:
    Spray for cleaning and repairing surfaces in stainless steel. Inox repair is a concentrated liquid product, acidic, medium viscosivity, water soluble in all proportions, almost colorless and odorless. Contains phosphoric acid, surfactants and corrosion inhibitors. PH<1. Do not use in stainless steel with PVD TITANIUM, 24K/18K gold, silver, bronze, copper, brass, wood, leather, aluminum, lacquered and anodized finishes.

    METAFLUX SPRAY:
    Spray for stainless steel maintenance. Eliminates dust and dirt. Doesn’t leave marks, antistatic. Leaves the surfaces as new, for use with any stainless steel surface.
  • FOR STAINLESS STEEL WITH PVD TITANIUM FINISH

    This finish is achieved by PVD technology (Physical Vapor Deposition). It is a non galvanic, pollution free process, widely used in the watch making industry. The steel is polished or satined, obtaining glossy or satin titanium parts. This is an exceptionally high quality finish, giving the final product an additional hardness and a very high discoloration appearance. Although considerably more resistant to corrosion than stainless steel without PVD there are agents responsible for the appearance of rust:

    - Lack of maintenance
    - Cleaning with inadequate chemicals, such as acids or bases
    - Installation in coastal areas of high salinity on the outside, or in areas with high concentration of chlorine, like swimming pools.
    - Installation on heavily polluted areas such as industrial zones.

    To preserve the stainless steel, clean finger stains, spots, etc, you can use the JNF spray inox (METAFLUX or INOX PROTECT), applied accordingly to the product instructions.

    Note: do not use other chemical products, its use will result in the appearance of spots or rust points. Examples: heavy acids or heavy alkaline products HCl (acid cloridric); H2SO4 (sulfuric acid); HN03 (acid nitric); NaOH (hydroxide of sodium); KOH (hydroxide of potassium)
